Why are boy bands so appreciated? The young public, such as preteens and teens, mostly girls, love these kinds of bands because of plenty of reasons. One of the reasons why boy bands are idolatrized by young girls is their sensitivity. Lots of their songs are about love and their care for the girls they like or breakups, things that are really touching for the young public, since they all go through the drama that boy bands sing about. The catchy choruses and invigorating music also attracts public to dance, which makes these bands even more attractive. The larger the diversity of activities you can do while listening to a music genre is, the more appreciated it gets. If we talk about boy band music, we will notice that they can make us laugh, make us cry, make us angry or confident, we can dance on it and also relax on it. What could be better than all that?
Most of us are very familiar with the 90's boy bands, because that was the period when the popularity of these singers reached its peak. But incredibly, boy bands existed long before the 90's. Even though the earliest forms of boy bands started to be noticed in the 50's, in the 80's they started to gain some popularity. There are lots of boy bands who got well known in the 80's. Boy bands such as Color Me Badd or Boys II Men had a great success. Also, there were other bands like New Kids on The Block or the Jacksons, which even though had their debut in the 60's, they were still successful in the 80's. There were other groups that formed earlier and became famous only in the 1980s. Among them, we can count the New Edition band and even Sade.
Although the 90's were the years when boy bands really started to 'rock everyone's world', there were successful groups in the 70's and in the 80's too. Even if the term boy band wasn't always used, the groups entirely made up of men weren't something new not even in the 60's. People liked to listen to soft or stronger masculine voices which interpreted beautiful love songs and sometimes had even more meaningful lyrics. People enjoyed listening to boy bands and they still do. Even though the boy bad concept isn't as loved as it used to be, it will always be part of the music industry.
